Hostesses were HORRIBLY rude! I was discriminated against because of my age as a 50+ year old woman. However, the place overall is fantastic. Could use some new hostesses.

The food, the service, the ambience, the beautiful art deco design and just all about filling up being back in the 1920s 30s and 40s. Dress to impress you'll enjoy it.

We've been here multiple times. Recently, the Jive Aces performed their swing and jive music. Dance floor was packed and we joined them. Also small dance floor upstairs. Many dressing up for the time period others not. Music was entertaining and fun. Tickets about $30 each. Do Valet parking. Dinner available; but upstairs is a nice bar with lots of seating if you're skipping dinner. Music stops at 11 pm. No need to get there early if you're not having dinner. Check site or call for type of music being offered. Open Fri, Sat, and sometimes but rarely, on Sundays. The building itself has a very long history.

The music is live and the sound makes everyone feel alive and happy. The service is excellent and tentative with my glass always full. Don't get me started on the food, I enjoyed eating the steak and vegetables. So fresh and delicious. I'm glad I came across this restaurant and show . I'm going to become a regular guest here .

Looking for a magical night in LA. Get transported back in time with people dressed upscale 1920s -50s. Great music. I had a gimlet made to chilled perfection. I took a picture of the list and I'll have to try this later. The host was so happy to seat me with my friends. As a dancer I didn't think they would but as the night slowed down chairs became available. The chocolate ice cream cake was so good. Thanks for a world class experience.

Flash back in time! We went for Halloween, the Dean Mora band played a bit of everything to dance to, including a conga line through out the club! Service was great including valet (except the one guy behind the bar who didn't know the drinks we were asking for upstairs) the food was delish. Only downside is paying the 35pp entrance fee just to come in on top of what you spend on dinner. (Pricey) We had an excellent table and it's yours for the night. Dress up & enjoy the ambiance!

Cicada Club is beautiful inside. Great dancing and music. I had Veal Piccata very tender and nice flavor. (But no capers) very nicely cooked. My guest had the Bronzino which was grilled just perfect but not dry. She loved it! She had the beets with goat cheese salad and liked it. I had the tuna tartare very nice with fresh avocado. Desert she had the cheesecake and was impressed. So 4 star for food but 5 for service and atmosphere.

We absolutely loved seeing a show here. Beautiful building, elegant crowd, amazing dancing. Valet parking right out front was greatly appreciated. The service was top notch. Only the food brings this review from 5 to 4 stars. It was a little lacking in seasoning, and the swordfish was slightly overcooked. Despite that, I still highly recommend catching a show here. Great fun

Many years ago, I took a Raymond Chandler bus tour of Los Angeles (a particularly good Groupon purchase circa 2010), and one of the shorter stops was a visit to Cicada, which was, I believe, very much closed at the time. We stood outside the restaurant and got a whole talk about its history and importance, almost all of which I have forgotten. The main takeaway was that the place was old and storied. I got to go inside Cicada last month, for a Great Gatsby-themed fundraiser for my kid's school. It was a beautiful venue with a strong, well-maintained art deco look, both inside and out. There were two levels, connected by stairs and a very cool, only slightly terrifying manual crank elevator. We spent most of our time upstairs, between the bar and our table, but got our food downstairs at the buffet and wandered through the dance floor. The bar was slammed, but I managed to drink a good deal of wine and maybe a Manhattan throughout the night. The food was adequate. I got a plateful of whatever was on offer. I feel like the meat wasn't great, but I filled up enough on the pasta, I think some mushroom ravioli. Cicada is more an event space than a restaurant these days, and I suspect no one is really coming for the food. We enjoyed our fancy night out without the kids, and the historic venue was a definite bonus.
